About Mélanie Pulla
I am a passionate herbalist and artisan tea maker devoted to cultivating quiet moments of stillness that reacquaint you with the essence of who you are. Through handcrafted herbal blends and the art of tea ceremony, I offer invitations into self-reflection and gentle transformation.
My love of tea began early in life and wove naturally into a path of herbalism and spiritual inquiry. At 16 years old, I discovered earth-based spirituality and began blending herbal teas and selling them at markets. A year later I entered the mystery school Hygeia College, studying with Jeannine Parvati Baker.
I deepened my path at the California School of Herbal Studies (2000), living as a garden apprentice at Emerald Valley for two years while also learning Ayurveda and aromatherapy with DeAnna Batdorff. Further studies with Michael Moore at the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine (2002) led to a BSc in Wellness & Alternative Medicine from Northern Vermont University (2006).
Two years later, I traveled through Southeast Asia, where I immersed myself in tea culture visiting tea houses, ancient tea gardens, and learning Korean tea ceremony. It was here that I was introduced to the concept of Tea Mind: a quiet, contemplative presence cultivated through tea. This way of being now lives at the heart of my philosophy and daily practice.
In 2020, along the shores of Vancouver Island, Water Over Leaves was born. I now call Kootenay mountains home, where I dedicate myself to crafting exquisite blends and cultivating quiet spaces of tea rapture. Through Water Over Leaves, I invite you to experience the quiet beauty and deep coherence that emerge from thoughtfully blended teas and intentional ritual.
